Describing
What does Martha look like?
She's tall, dark and beautiful.
What else can you tell me about her?
Well, she has long, black hair, is kind of chubby, and wears thick glasses.
What is George like?
He's funny, cute and really rich.
Tell me about your new apartment.
Well, it's pretty small. It only has two rooms and a bathroom. But it's comfortable enough for me.
How was your trip to Dizzyland?
Boring. We had to wait in line for most of the rides.
And it rained the entire time we were there.
What did you think of the Himalayas?
Well, the view was gorgeous. Of course, it took us two days to get there, and the weather was freezing!

In English, we use the question, "What does … look like?" to describe a person's appearance and
"What is/are…. like?" to describe someone's personality. Caution: "What does … like?" means
"what are his/her preferences?"

When describing past events, be sure to use past tense:
A: How was your trip?
B: It was terrible/great!
