Expressing Possibilities
We could go (and) see a movie.

That would be fun. Or we could go out for ice cream.

 

We can stay here for the evening.

I'd rather not. It's only a few more hours (of driving).

She might not make it to the wedding.
That's too bad. I hope she feels betters soon.
 

Can and could are often used to suggest a possible course of action.

May and might are used to indicate that the outcome has not been determined yet.
